Promoting the value of Oc Eo cultural heritage in An Giang for the development of interprovincial tourism in the Southern Region

Abstract

Oc Eo Culture is a culture with unique features of architecture, art, and history, as
evidence of a typical ancient culture and actively contributing to the development of the
Southern region. This culture covers the entire Southern region of our country, in which An
Giang is considered the province with the highest density. With more than 20 archaeological
sites and historical - cultural relics of Oc Eo, especially the Oc Eo - Ba The National Special
Relic Site, An Giang has been developing a tourism development strategy in the general
context of the Southern region. To promote the cultural values of Oc Eo and develop tourism,
the province should focus on establishing a tourism linkage chain with Southern provinces
that have the same type of Oc Eo cultural archaeological tourism to enhance experiences and
increase the attractiveness of tourism products. This is a long-term step that requires
appropriate strategies and solutions based on concerted organization to move towards
sustainable tourism in the Southern provinces, contributing to elevating the status of
Vietnamese tourism on the world tourism map.
